What is new?
Data Room is a new, modernized version of your AngelList fund page. It’s built to make your fundraising process more intuitive by presenting your fund’s information in a cleaner, more compelling format for LPs.
Why did AngelList make this change?
We're introducing Data Room to give fund managers better tools to communicate with LPs and raise capital. The new format improves information clarity, visual design, and provides new analytics to help you track engagement for your fundraise.
What’s changing from my current fund page?
Your fund page will automatically transition to the new Data Room format. All the same core information will remain, but it will be displayed in a more organized and visually streamlined layout. No data or content will be lost, and existing LP invitation links will be ported over to the Data Room without any downtime. You’ll also gain access to document-level analytics and easier editing for self-advised funds.
How can I edit my Data Room?
You can edit the Data Room of your self-advised fund by going to the “Data Room” tab on the GP dashboard and choosing the eye icon.
Once here, click the “Configure” icon in the top right corner. When you are in Configuration mode you can edit text, upload media, and drag-and-drop new sections to your room.
You can find our complete guide on how to successfully configure your Data Room here.
Please note, AngelList offers additional compliance guardrails and oversight to all AngelList-advised funds. Due to the complex nature of Data Room compliance, all AngelList-advised funds can edit their Data Rooms by reaching out to their Customer Relations associate or lead@angellist.com.
How do Data Room invitation links work?
Data Room links can be found in the Data Room tab of your GP dashboard. Each link can be tailored to include specific terms and permissions for the viewer - such as customized management fees, minimum investment amounts, and carry terms. You can also set file-level access controls and adjust page-level content to suit different audiences. The link an LP uses to commit will determine the terms they’re presented with and the version of the page they see and agree to.
Can I create permission groups or roles to invited members?
Yes, you can create labeled permission groups that determine if a user has view only, view and download, or custom access.
Custom access can be used to give users access to specific folders and/or documents instead of all of them.
How do I make my Data Room public?
Access Links
- Under the Access tab, you’ll find the Access links section. Here you can create one or many access links with different permission groups and access settings
- Name each link and include an optional expiration date
Access settings
Select how visitors gain access to your data room. Access link permissions apply only to visitors who have not received and accepted an email invite.
Access Level | Fund Type | Verification Required | Analytics Level | NDA Enforcement |
---|---|---|---|---|
Verified email address | AngelList-advised & Self-advised | A visitor must enter their email address via a verification code or sign into their AngelList account before entering | User-level analytics | Automatically enforced after the user creates an account |
Password only | Self-advised only | A visitor must enter the password (AngelList generates) before entering | Anonymous link-level analytics | Not enforced |
Unverified email address | Self-advised only | A visitor must enter any email address before entering | Email-level analytics | Option to toggle Enforce NDA on/off under Additional Settings |
Public access | Self-advised only | No verification required | Anonymous link-level analytics | Not enforced |
AngelList-advised funds must have verified email address permissions to enforce NDA requirements and ensure compliance requirements are met.
Permission groups / Call to actions
- Apply preset access settings (like View & Download, View Only, etc) or custom permission groups to each link
- Apply default or create custom call-to-actions to each link
Analytics
- From the Activity tab, you can view a “Session source” to see where visitors entered your data room
- From clicking into the specific Access Link, you can see what visitors have entered your data room
What will happen to my current LP invitation links?
All existing LP invite links will continue to work and will automatically redirect LPs to your new Data Room. The terms set in these existing links will persist in the new links.
How do Data Room view and download permissions work?
View and download permissions are fully configurable and determined by the invitation link itself. Permissions can be applied at either the individual file level or across the entire Data Room. You have the flexibility to grant view-only access or allow both viewing and downloading, depending on the needs of your outreach or diligence process.
Why is there a Data Room tab on my fund and on my sidebar?
The Data Room tab on your fund dashboard is a quick way to see your invitation links, invite LPs, and preview your Data Room. The Data Room tab on your sidebar is where you will create new permission groups and view the analytics of your Data Room. The information in both tabs is the same and will update accordingly.
Is Data Room available for my Rolling Fund?
At this time only Venture Funds, SPVs, and RUVs, will have their fund pages converted to Data Rooms. We will send out notifications to GPs who have Rolling Funds if that changes.
Is there a limit to how many people I can invite into a Data Room?
There is no limit to the amount of invited members into your Data Rooms.
Is there a file size upload limit?
There is a 10MB limit on individual files.
