Why did I receive a tax estimate instead of a final K-1? Is this information final?

Tax estimates are provided in cases where a final K-1 is expected to be delivered after April 2nd. These generally apply to funds that are waiting on tax data from external parties or require more extensive tax analysis as a result of non-standard fund attributes, such as investments into pass-through entities, international investments, investments with extensive state-level requirements, or crypto investments.

The estimates we provide incorporate our best predictions of final taxable income based on information available at the time the estimate is prepared.

Most estimates will be consistent with final returns, but there is a possibility that some amounts on estimates will differ from final K-1’s. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your tax estimate.

For additional information, please see here for how to use a tax estimate before the final K-1 is available.
