What is a capital call?
A capital call is a request made by a fund lead to investors (Limited Partners or LPs) to contribute a portion of their committed capital.
The amount an investor contributes at the start of the fund is known as the initial drawdown, while additional requests for capital are known as capital calls.
How do I call capital as a Fund Lead?

Navigate to your fund dashboard
- Go to the Capital Calls tab on your dashboard.
- The Capital Calls overview will display:
- Total committed capital
- Capital already contributed
- Amount left to call
- Any pending capital contributions
- Any overdue capital contributions

Initiate a capital call
- Set the amount of capital you need to call.
- Establish the deadline for LPs to transfer funds.

Notify investors
Once initiated, AngelList will automatically send capital call notices to LPs.
- LPs will receive instructions via:
- Email (with the capital call notice attached)
- Their LP Dashboard (under the “Documents” section)
- Immediately after e-signing (if a capital call is already active when they invest)
- LPs will receive instructions via:
Where can LPs see their capital calls?
LPs can track their capital call status from their dashboard:
- Portfolio Homepage: Click on a specific investment and select "View Details" to access capital call documents.
- “Action Required” Banner: If an LP’s AngelList funding account lacks sufficient funds, a banner will prompt them to initiate an ACH transfer or view wire instructions from the Funding Accounts page.
