How do I initiate the transfer of an investor’s interests after their death?

We’re deeply sorry for your loss and understand that managing financial matters during such a time can feel overwhelming. At AngelList, we’re here to support you and make this process as straightforward as possible. When an investor passes away, their account and any existing interests in funds can be transferred to a designated beneficiary or estate administrator. To complete this process, we generally require a death certificate and a will or another legal document that outlines the assignment of assets.

To initiate the transfer, please submit the following documents to invest@angellist.com:

    1. A copy of the death certificate.
    2. A will, estate document, or other legal documentation that assigns the assets to the person requesting access.
    3. A valid ID for the beneficiary or trustee, which can be uploaded here.

Once these documents are submitted and verified, we will update the account ownership and coordinate with our Interest Transfers Team to ensure the investments are properly retitled under the new owner’s name.
