How can I close investments through my IRA?

To invest through your IRA on AngelList, follow these steps:

  1. Create Your IRA Entity: After receiving the custom invitation link from the fund lead and starting the subscription process, you’ll enter your desired investment amount and be prompted to set up your entity. Select to create a new entity and choose Checkbook IRA or Self-Directed IRA, depending on your IRA type. If you haven’t yet received an invitation link from your fund lead, you can fast-track the entity creation process via this link.
  2. Provide the Required Information: Fill in the requested details, including selecting your IRA custodian. Ensure the legal name matches exactly with the name used by your IRA custodian. The platform will guide you through the remaining steps.
  3. Use Your IRA Entity for Investments: After your IRA entity is created, you can use it to close investments on AngelList. During the closing process, initiated through the custom invitation link provided by the fund lead, you’ll have the option to select your IRA entity in the subscription flow.

Important Notes:

  • We recommend starting the process at least two weeks before the closing deadline to ensure there is enough time to complete all necessary paperwork and fund the investment. This will help avoid delays that could prevent your investment from being processed on time.
  • All investments finalized on the AngelList platform are binding. If you’re unsure whether your IRA can fund the investment by the closing deadline, consider using another entity or investing personally to avoid complications.
