Why is my dashboard empty, even though I made an investment?

After your funds are received by AngelList, and if you haven’t received any notifications, there’s nothing more you need to do. The rest of the process happens behind the scenes. Your investment may not immediately appear on your Portfolio Dashboard because it takes time for the investment to be fully finalized and marked as “Live” in our system.

Why the delay? The period between sending your funds and seeing your investment on the dashboard involves several steps:

  1. Funds Processing: Your money is first deposited into your Funding Account. Assuming there are no holds or issues, the funds are then transferred to the fund you’ve invested in.
  2. Investment Finalization: The fund uses your capital to invest in the targeted asset(s). However, closing a deal requires coordination with multiple parties and can be delayed due to factors like unsigned documents, carry verification, requests from the portfolio company, or bank holidays.
  3. Deal Closure: The closing date listed on the deal page is an estimate and may change due to allocation adjustments or updates to the portfolio company’s timeline. Even after the investment “closes,” additional behind-the-scenes work is needed before the deal is finalized and goes “Live.”

Where to Find Your Investment in the Meantime:

Until your investment is finalized by the fund (first close for venture funds and funding to the asset for SPVs), your commitments will appear in the Commitments section of your portal. This is normal, and your Portfolio Dashboard may appear empty until the deal is fully processed. Rest assured, once everything is complete, the status on your investment will become visible and update to “Live.” There’s nothing more you need to do during this time.
